NEC has launched a lightweight head-mounted display that could be used with face-recognition technology to instantly display information about strangers.The Tele Scouter is a new “professional� tool that includes the actual HMD Solution and a tiny Windows Embedded CE 6.0 terminal to access to remotely to a computer and its Operating system. The Tele Scouter consists of the 64-gram eyepiece and a 360-gram Bluetooth-linked base unit worn on a belt. Viewing images on the eye screen is like watching a 16-inch screen from a meter away, according to NEC specs.

Sigma Germany has announced a limited edition Sigma SD1 that comes in a removable, hand-made wooden case to whet your appetite for luxury gadgets. The camera comes with a special wooden casing fashioned from Amboyna Burl, the deformed wood of the Southeast Asian Padauk tree. The case takes around 60 hours to cut, mill and polish. Pandigital today expanded its new line of Android(TM) media tablets with the Pandigital SuperNova. The device is offered at $229. That’s not a bad price considering the specs it has. The Pandigital SuperNova comes with an 8 inch touchscreen display and a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. It will come with Android Gingerbread and features a single core 1GHz processor, and 4GB of built in storage plus a microSD card slot. Other specifications on the SuperNova include Bluetooth 3.1 and a micro HDMI port. Its rechargeable Li-ion battery offers up to 6-hour of operation time. Like the Fire, the Nova and SuperNova are also pitched as eBook Readers. However, the Pandigital devices are tied to the Barnes & Noble store.
