Google Chairman Eric Schmidt has revealed that google could soon release its own tablet device within the next 6 months. He also promises that “we’ll see even more “brutal competitionâ€� between Apple and Google”. During the interview Schmidt also confirmed Google was working on a Siri competitor that would offer some of the same voice-controlled functionality as Siri does for the iPhone 4S. Exact details of the upcoming tablet were not revealed, and it’s unclear whether the slate will be specifically branded with Google’s Nexus nomenclature or be another manufacturer’s model that the search giant will champion.

According to Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham City will be getting three new challenge maps as DLC on December 20. There’s not been a press release about the Challenge Map Pack yet, but Rocksteady Studios confirmed the date on their official Twitter account. According to this tweet, the pack arrives December 20 and also includes two previously available maps: Iceberg Lounge and Joker’s Carnival. The Joker’s Carnival swipes the rules of The Weakest Link and adds your score to a meter which fills by fighting enemies. You can bank your score at any time, but as the meter rises you get a tempting score bonus. It is said to add four hours of content.

Japan’s Mouse Computer is selling the so-called LuvBook S, an 11.6-inch laptop with Hello Kitty all over it. Co-developed with Hello Kitty maker Sanrio, Mouse Computer also roped in the assistance of luxury goods manufacturer Swarovski. By adding the Hello Kitty logo on the laptop body created using 1,100 Swarovski stones, this laptop will cost you around $900 in Japanese money.

The Kinect for Windows team has announced that Microsoft is releasing PC-specific Kinect hardware in 2012. A new blog post on Kinect for Windows has announced that “new Kinect hardware especially for Windows” has the hardware optimization and the software has been adjusted to enable better PC use-case scenarios. In conjunction with the talk of new hardware, Microsoft is also prepping commercial licenses for Kinect, enabling developers to sell commercial apps based on the SDK for the Windows iteration.

According to a recent report by Reuters, Samsung and Google are in talks about producing Samung TVs with Google TV built in, and the company has said that we will see the first device at an event next year. Yoon Boo-keun, president of Samsung’s visual display division, said the company is at a final stage of discussion with Google Inc. It seems the first details on Samsung’s Exynos Quad-core System-on-Chip (SoC) have trickled out. Samsung had recently revealed the Exynos 4212, a dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocking at 1.5GHz; and now code from the Kernel Git page seems to confirm the existence of a certain Exynos 4412 SoC which is said to be a quad-core one. This is still the ARM Cortex A9 and even 1.5 GHz, but this time he has four hearts. It is also reported that the Galaxy S III will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1GB of RAM and a 4.6 inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display witth a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
