Vizio Android Tablet Now Available For Pre-Order, Ships On July 18th

Vizio has begun taking pre-orders for its new 8 inch Android tablet. They are hosting a pre-order via their site where you can plop down $400 to reserve your piece of Gingerbread tablet action. The Vizio Tablet will go up for limited pre-order starting today and will start shipping out on July 18th. A week later, on July 25th the tablet will show up in retail stores. The pre-order price appears to be slightly higher than earlier reports suggested, with several rumors and a Walmart leak pointing to a budget-focused pricing structure starting at $349. Vizio’s tablet is rather unique from most of the Android tablets on the market today. It has an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display and runs Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Sony S1 and S2 Get A Quick Hands On

Recent video and photo from Germany’s Golem website get us an outlook of Sony S2 and S1 Honeycomb tablet. According to the guys at Androidpit.de, both tablets will launch with the Sony PlayStation Suite. Golem compared the feel to a Nintendo DS, and noted that it includes an obvious Playstation logo, suggesting that this device is designed for mobile gaming. Crash Bandicoot of PlayStation fame was played on the large tablet in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The two Android Honeycomb tablets will be powerful Tegra 2 dual-core devices geared for PlayStation gaming. The S1 has a 9.4-inch screen, boasts a Tegra 2 chip and has dual cameras. The S1 also has a proprietary USB connector that can be used to connect adapters and accessories, said the German blog. The S2 is a clamshell tablet which has two 5.5-inch displays. It also has Tegra 2 and dual cameras.

Sharp Galapagos tablet FCC

Sharp has sent yet another Galapagos tablet over to the FCC. The Galapagos line of tablets from Sharp were last seen earlier this year when a 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch model were revealed in an FCC filing. The new tablet is called the EB-W71LJ-H, and based on Sharp’s naming convention thus far. The only details to emerge from the FCC testing reveal, unsurprisingly, that it is equipped with an 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi radio and that it is, indeed, on its way into America.

According to FCC documents released, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 wil be be compatible with AT&T in the United States. The test reports confirm that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will carry AT&T’s 850/1900MHz GSM bands along with the WCDMA bands II and V. It uses the model number A3L-GTP730. The new Tab is much the same as the old Tab (i.e. the 10.1) but packed into a smaller package. this actual model is not just WiFi-only just like the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 — it also sports 3G connectivity. The filing reveals little else about the Galaxy Tab 8.9, a device that is thought to have a 8.9-inch (obviously) display with 1280×900 resolution, a 3-megapixel rear-camera, 2-megapixel front-camera, a bunch of storage options, and a Tegra 2 dual-core processor.

HP TouchPad going on sale in UK on July 15th starting at £399

HP Have confirmed the UK release date for the HP TouchPad. Cisco’s Cius tablet to go on sale July 31 for $750

Cisco today announced the long-awaited suggested price on its upcoming Cius Android tablet and said it will be available worldwide on July 31. Cisco will be pitching the Cius tablet to businesses for the steep entry price of $750. The Cius will seem expensive compared to the iPad 2, which starts at $499. However, Cisco has a strong enterprise following and has named business customers among early Cius users who apparently see the value of a new set of AppHQ applications built specially for the Cius. Cisco also rolled out a new application Relevant Products/Services ecosystem called AppHQ that will give IT Relevant Products/Services administrators full management and deployment control over which Cius tablet apps Relevant Products/Services can be deployed within the enterprise as well as which employees have access to specific apps. Cisco’s 7-inch Cius will runs on Android 2.2 and weighs 1.5 lbs. Under the hood, the device has a very power-efficient Intel Atom Z615 chip at 1.2GHz.
