Fusion Garage Unveils Android-Compatible Grid10 Tablet

Posted by | Last Updated : 280 days ago

After an obnoxious marketing campaign, mystery tablet maker TabCo revealed itself today as Fusion Garage. The Grid 10 tablet is the spiritual successor to Fusion Garage’s JooJoo tablet, which was dead on arrival. The Grid 10 is a 10-inch tablet featuring a 1,366×769 resolution screen ( the highest of any tablet currently on the market) and features an 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. The OS is an Android spin-off called Grid OS, and there’s an app store called the Grid Shop. GridOS is built on the Android Kernel and supports Android apps, but has been designed to be aesthetically very different from Android. A major part of this is the elimination of the four mandatory Android buttons, and the introduction of a button-free “wheel-based” UI, which grows a tree of menus out of points of contact on the screen. Moreover, it has a 4-point capacitive touch panel, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of storage, GPS, a 3-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, and ambient light sensor. The tablet weighs 1.5 pounds.

Raspberry Pi’s $25 computer inches Video

Posted by | Last Updated : 280 days ago

Raspberry Pi got one step closer with the introduction of a new alpha board that’s a fully functional computer that fits in the palm of your hand. Created by UK game developer David Braben, the computer was reported had the size of a typical USB stick. With its USB port on one side and HDMI port on the other, it can function as a real PC. What sorts of components can you fit on such a limited piece of real estate? Surprisingly, there’s a 700 MHz ARM11 processor, 256MB of memory, 2 USB ports, an SD card slot, and Ethernet jack, and OpenGL graphics with enough power to display 1080p video. The Raspberry Pi foundation is confirming this weekend that Dom (another Raspberry Pi official) has been able to access an SD card, a network, and boot Linux from the alpha boards without a hitch. The new prototype larger than the final version, but it’s also more expensive.
