Hewlett-Packard on Monday announced its latest netbook, dubbed the HP Mini 1104. The Mini 1104 promises durability and performance for those who may be frustrated by text-entry on a tablet.The new netbook is designed for education and business applications, packing in a near full-sized keyboard, up to nine-hours of battery life and a multi-touch trackpad. Connectivity-wise, you’ll have options for three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, audio in/out, and VGA. Or, go wireless with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, and HSPA+ mobile broadband with GPS support. You’ll get up to 9 hours of battery life and a multitouch trackpad on this little machine.

At a press release in Hamburg, Acer apparently said that both the Acer Iconia Tab A510 and Acer Iconia Tab A700 tablets should be launched in April.Pricing for the A510 and A700 (64GB model) could be around €500 and €749, respectively. The US equivalents will likely carry the same numerical values, but in dollars. The two Iconia Tabs share 10-inch screens and Tegra 3 processors that give them much better performance. Where they differ the most is in the resolution department. While the A510 features a respectable 1280×800 display, the A700 boasts a next generation 1920×1200 tablet display.
The A510 features 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch display, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The equipment is completed by a door mini-HDMI, mini-USB and a slot for microSD cards.

Notion Ink has just informed its plans for a second-generation Adam tablet. NotionInk and TI are collaborating and the new Adam II will have a TI OMAP44XX processor along with other TI components. The tablet will be designed specifically for “best power performance and multi-tasking experience” and will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Moreover the new Adam II will have Texas Instruments components like Wi-Link 7.0 and Phoenix Audio Power Amplifiers. The original Adam had been popular because it was one of the first devices to ship with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and it offered an optional Pixel Qi low-power, sunlight readable display

The Asus Eee PC 1225B ultraportable notebook is now available for purchase in Italy. Eee PC 1225B is featuring an 11.6 inch with resolution 1366 x 768 pixel, and presented with two options based on processor power sizes, one with 1.65 GHZ AMR E-450 dual core and the other option is a 1 GHZ AMD C-60 dual core. The notebook has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, making it a hair smaller than the other 12.1 inch Eee PC 12xx series notebooks that have been released over the last few years. Sadly, the notebook is not available yet in the US. The rest of the Asus netbook is pretty bland and doesn’t seem to differ too much from all the other Eee PC models that Taiwanese company has released.

LG has just introduced its LTE tablet expanding LTE Leadership into Tablets. This is their first LTE tablet and although it’s heading to South Korea first.The Optimus Pad LTE is thinner at just 9.34mm compared to the 12.7mm thickness of the non-LTE version. It’s also lighter at just 497g compared to the 621g of the Optimus Pad. The tablet will be sporting an 8.9″ IPS True HD display with a resolution of 1280×768. And for tablets, the 8MP rear camera will definitely set a new standard if the lens used is of decent quality

Today, HP has just unveiled its wall-sized 132-inch touchscreen displays that can be used in high-end retail displays or battlefield control room. The VantagePoint actually consists of six HP LD4730 47-inch displays (covered in Gorilla Glass) all linked together to create an 11- by 7-foot display with a total resolution of 4098 x 1536. HP targets a fair number of industries with the VantagePoint, where they include (but are not limited to) executive briefing centers, showrooms, retail, financial services, automotive, airline, consumer packaged goods and the government. Brightness is 700 cd/m² (500 cd/m² in energy saving mode). An infrared-based touch overlay provides precision touch interaction with 32 touch points. The video and image processing are managed by an HP Z800 Workstation. The Z800, in turn, is driven by dual processors and an ATI FirePro graphics card. Audio and color contrast is handled by a Pavilion Slimline PC dedicated just to those purposes.

At CES 2012, Toshiba showed off a convertible Windows 7 notebook called the Portégé M930. The notebook has an articulating hinge to switch between notebook and slate mode. One just has to push the screen until it is facing the other way round and then fold it down over the keyboard. This swivel action is sturdier than the sliding action type mechanism seen on other such convertible devices. The laptop has a 13.3 inch display, an Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 4GB of RAM, and a 256GB solid state disk. There are 2 USB 2.0 ports, a full-sized Ethernet and HDMI out ports, and a full SD slot for connectivity. There is also a pointing stick on the right edge of the hybrid device that two mouse buttons.

CTL had two 2go Classmate PC models, the convertible tablet NL3 and the more ‘classic’ laptop design E12. Classmate computers are designed for students and feature sturdy cases, built-in handles for carrying the device, and other education-focused hardware and software. Both models packs a 10.1-inch screen, with HD resolution and a resistive touchscreen in the NL3, a 1.6GHz Atom N2600 processor, and 1GB of RAM. Users can pair these with an SSD or hard drive offering up to 320GB of storage space, while the webcam and the Wi-Fi 802.11 support come as standard. They also have ruggedized chassis that can withstand drops from heights up to 70cm. Further, they come with USB, VGA and HDMI out, and a card reader. The NL3 convertible laptop can even be fitted with an internal 3G modem to add wireless broadband capabilities to the overall features list. Battery life is said to reach over 10 hours of typical use.

Robotics and high-tech toy manufacturer TOSY has just introduced the mRobo Ultra Bass, portable speaker that doubles as a dancing robot. The battery powered mRobo carries two gigabytes of internal memory that enables a listener to store about 500 songs via a USB port. The mRobo Ultra Bass will morph from a speaker into dancing human form with a speaker once you press “play”. The speaker has the ability to produce bass at 40Hz. The mRobo tips the scales at 3.3 lbs, and will not be taller than 18″ in size. Unfortunately, the bot is still in prototype mode, but it’s expected to retail for about $200 when it launches during the fall of 2012.
