Pentax has just announced its new compact superzoom camera, the RZ18. The Pentax RZ18 is the latest addition to the Pentax Optio RZ zoom lens series. Its Optio RZ18 fits an 18X zoom 25-450mm equivalent lens with an f3.5-4.9 aperture into a consciously minimal design that stays relatively thin. The Optio RZ18 also features a 16-megapixel sensor and multiple Pentax Shake Reduction image stabilization technologies, including sensor-shift SR for sharp images even when there’s less light. The camera has a 3-inch, 460k dot LCD display and nine-point autofocusing. Additionally, it face detection algorithms, an SDXC card slot and an HD video mode capable of snagging 720p clips at 30 frames per second

NEC Reveals LaVie Touch, New Tablet Running Windows 7

The Japanese manufacturer NEC has just unveiled its touch pad LT550 / FS, also known as LaVie Touch. It comes with two rather special features: it’s powered by Windows 7 Home Premium, and it comes with a total of three hardware add-ons out of the box: a mix between stand and DVD-drive (dubbed “Multistation”), a wireless mouse, and a wireless keyboard. The LaVie Touch and uses an Intel Atom Z670 central processing unit (Oak Trail) as the item around which everything else revolves. This CPU comes with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz and is backed up by 2 GB of RAM (random access memory). Moreover, it offers a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) IPS touchscreen, HDMI output, an audio system with two speakers, a 3.5 mm audio output, a wireless network connection Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader, microSD / microSDHC (up to 32GB) and a 1.3 Megapixel webcam duo + microphone, and a battery enabling up to 10.6 hours of operation.

Ricoh eQuill ePaper business tablet hits the FCC. Back in earlier this summer, Ricoh introduced its own tablet called the eQuill. The Ricoh eQill seems to be just another eReader with an E Ink display. There’s actually an enterprise tablet designed to fit into a paperless (or at least paper-less) office. The eQuill connects to your server over WiFi or 3G and lets you read and sign documents without wasting any paper. The 9.7” diagonal e-paper display enables a reading experience most similar to reading text on printed paper and it stores approximately 25,000 pages worth of content. The tablet also features, an 8GB of storage capacity, a TI OMAP 3621 processor, a 256MB of RAM, a stylus for text input, a 5MP digital camera, and a voice recorder. AT&T has announced that the Acer Iconia Tab A501 will be available on September 18th. AT&T announced back in March that the Iconia Tab A501 would be coming to its network this summer. When the tablet was first unveiled many assumed it would be a “4G” device, but AT&T confirmed this means HSPA+, not LTE in this case. You can pick up the 16GB model for $480 outright, or if you prefer to get a discount, then be prepared to fork out $330 to go along with a 2-year contract. The Acer Iconia sports a nVidia Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz, as well as 1GB of memory RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity. BenQ has recently introduced a new member in their line of Android tablet, called the R70. This table has also shown up in Spain as the DaVinci and in Russia as the effire CityNight. The R70 is based on a 7-inch LED-backlit touchscreen display with 800 x 600 resolutions, and powered by a 1GHz Cortex-A8 processor. Running on Android 2.2 Froyo OS, the tablet has 2GB Flash storage, a microSD card slot, built-in stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headset jack and a 4400mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.
