Toshiba introduces world’s thinnest tablet, Toshiba Regza AT700 in the event the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) 4 to 8 October 2011 in Japan. The AT700 weighs 558g and is 7.7mm thin; this is 0.19mm thinner than the AT200 which, when seen at the IFA, was 0.19mm thinner than the Galaxy Tab. Toshiba expects to sell a million units of its tablets that also include the Thrive and Excite and grab a foothold in the market. According to Toshiba, the tablet is able to break down the boundaries between the PC and TV. he operating system used is Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Another interesting feature is the 5 megapixel camera, audio enhancer, and noise equalizer. You will also be able to download recorded programmes from a digital recorder to the tablet.

Kobo, Amazon rival in the e-reader and eBook business, has a tablet eReader device on the way. Their new Android tablet, the 7″ Kobo Vox, has shown up on Futureshop.ca with a spec sheet, ship date, and a retail of $250 CAD. The page has been removed, but MobileRead forum member mighty_worm grabbed some images and details before the page disappeared. The Kobo Vox will come with a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, and it will run Google’s Android OS, although there are no details as to which version of Android it will run. Additionally, it has WiFi, 8GB of built in storage and a microSd card slot, and it have access to Google’s Android Market. The listed specs also mention support for Adobe DRM, EPUB, and PDF files.

Pictures have been leaked by TmoNews which appear to be the Huawei MediaPad tablet. Availability rumored to be announced at the fall CTIA event next month, the MediaPad has suffered a few delays, originally said to be released back in August. This device is a full featured 7-inch Android powered tablet complete with 1GB dual-core processor for just $199.99. The Huawei MediaPad features a 7-inch IPS WVGA 1280x 800 pixel resolution display and runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It sports a 1.3-megpixel front-facing camera, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and HD video capture. The storage space is 16GB internal storage, expandable with microSD card slot. Flash 10.3 should be supported, and the tablet will get a 4,100mAh battery that could give it a moderate amount of battery life.

Back at a IFA 2011 event, Dell denounced a lightweight XPS 14z. Today Dell has announced the laptop will be available in “the coming weeks” which means it should be sometime in October. The company is touting it as the “world’s thinnest fully featured laptop,” packing in the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, optical drives, and abundant ports in a 0.9-inch thin chassis. The Dell XPS 14z will pack a 14″ LG Shuriken display, a Core i5-2430M or Core i7-2640 CPU, NVIDIA Optimus graphics, a slot-loading optical drive (some people still use discs after all), USB 3.0, and a weight of 4.36. Availability is in China only and is being launched ahead of the country’s Golden Week holiday.
