Three New JVC Everio Camcorders Announced with the Victor Branding

The GZ-MG980, GZ-MS230 and the GZ-MS210 have been announced for the Japanese market under the Victor JVC branding. All three models are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, offer a bit more zoom power, and utilize JVC’s brand new “Active Mode” stabilization.
The GZ-MG980 is the most powerful of the three new Everio devices. It features 10.7MP with 1.6″ CCD sensor, produces 720×480 resolution, and comes with an 80GB HDD, an SD/SDHC slot, 39x optical zoom (F1.8〜4.3), a USB port and a 2.7 LCD screen. Japanese street price: $690.With an 80GB HDD storage capacity, the GZ-MG980 is pretty decent.

The GZ-MS230 basically has the same specs of GZ-MS980, It just misses the generous 80GB capacity of the former model, with just 8GB instead. The GZ-MS210 is the most basic of the three, with no internal memory—just two SD/SDHC slots. The GZ-MS210 and GZ-MS230 are available in silver, for $460 and $515, respectively.

Snowflake Sony DSC-TX1

This winter, Sony is offering a snowflake-engraved version of its DSC-TX1 compact camera.  It’s rightly named the ‘Snowflake’ as well.Already available in a choice of five colors, the cam will also let you choose between black, silver and pink for the engraved models.

Some features include a 10.2 Megapixel compact camera, 4X optical zoom, Carl Zeiss lens, and a 3? LCD touch display. Other features: 10fps burst mode, low-light capabilities and the 185 degree sweep panorama. You can even add your own message to the front, or just tag it with your name. Sony will sell this DSC-TX1 Snowflakes edition at cost $329

Sony Announces the NXCAM: A Professional AVCHD Camcorder

The NXCAM is Sony’s first professional camcorder line to record video to Memory Stick PRO Duo memory cards and the first to offer AVCHD recording.

The NXCAM will utilize Sony’s “G Lens” with a 20x optical zoom and it will include three 1/3-inch CMOS Sensors. As far as specs and features go, the NXCAM is essentially the same camcorder as Sony’s HVR-Z5U—except in place of the tape deck are two Memory Stick card slots

In HD mode, Sony’s NXCAM records H.264 in AVCHD format at a maximum bitrate of 24 megabits per second in best mode. NXCAM offers full-raster 720p and full-raster 1080i/p (in addition to subsampled 1080 formats, and SD formats encoded with MPEG2). The newly developed 1/3-inch type Exmor CMOS Sensor system with ClearVid array has 45-degree rotated pixels on each chip in order to increase the signal density, while each pixel maintains sufficient surface area. Exmor features the column-parallel A/D conversion technique and the dual noise cancelling method also used in the Sony’s top-of-the-line models.

Casio Exilim EX-FC150 Announced

Casio just announced a new Point & Shoot Camera for their Exilim Series, the Exilim EX-FC150. The camera is available on November 27th on the Japanese market at a retail price of 40 000 Yens
The Casio Exilim EX-FC150 is the updated version of the EX-FC100, and it comes with a 10 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, and a 37-185mm 5 x optical zoom lens, plus a 2.7 inch LCD display, SDHC memory card support, and HD video mode.
The 37-185mm lens is capable of 5x optical zoom and has sensor shift stabilization. Continuous shooting can be performed up to 40 photos (not sure if that’s per second or in one burst of shots).The Casio Exilim EX-FC150 is available in Gold, Black and Red version. Sadly, prices have yet to be announced

Olympus E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera

Olympus’ Chinese website have recently listed another upcoming micro four thirds camera from Olympus on their site namely the Pen E-P2. Expected to feature a rangefinder and the same retro fashioned design as the E-P1, there’s not much else we know about the new Olympus E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera. The Olympus E-P1 itself  is a mix between a DSLR camera and a point and shoot, that features a 12.3 megapixel sensor with a TruePic V image processor, 3.0″ LCD screen and does 720p HD movies

Olympus China’s website has the model number listed there for the whole world to see, which seems to confirm that the event Olympus had scheduled for October 31 will probably be the E-P2 announcement.

Mamiya Releases Two New DSLR Cameras

Two new DSLR cameras from Mamiya have been released today. Known as the Mamiya DM22 and DM28, both cameras provide almost any photographer affordable access to a truly professional digital camera system

Pushing the megapixel wall again, DM22 is 22 megapixel, and the DM28 is, you guessed it, a 28 megapixel. Both cameras use the stock Mamiya lenses so if you are already a Mamiya shooter, you’re set Both are not cheap buys though. The Mamiya DM22 will retail for about $9,995 while the Mamiya DM28 costs about $14,990. Both are expected to be available by November. For all a details, strike up Mamiya’s site.
