The Polaroid Z340 Instant Digital Camera is finally available promises to breathe new digital life into one of our favorite mediums. Based around a 14 megapixel digital camera with a fixed focal length, autofocus lens of unknown specification, the Polaroid Z340 takes the company back to its roots by offering the ability to create prints straight out of the camera. Designed for portability, the Z340 combines its 14.0 megapixel digital camera with a ZINK-enabled printer using the ink-free Zero Ink Printing Technology from ZINK Imaging to deliver a 3×4″ print. Users can also choose to keep the Polaroid Classic Border Logo, or print out full bleed and contemporary 3×4″ photographs.

The Z340 packs a 2.7″ LCD screen for viewfinding and selecting photos to print. The gadget measures 2.3 by 5.8 by 4.8 inches (HWD), and tapers off in the back to about 1.3 inches. It’s bulkier than your standard point-and-shoot, so it has a hand strap on the right side to prevent any accidental spills. The Polaroid Z340 is available now with an MSRP of $299.99 from major online retailer. Thirty sheet refills of the ZINK three-inch by four-inch paper are $20, a relative bargain considering old Polaroid film packs cost the same for much fewer prints.
The RED Scarlet is essentially the junior version of the RED Epic, which sports an S35 sensor (close to APS-C sized). When it was first announced, the Scarlet was supposed to be available with an S35 sensor (dubbed the Scarlet S35). The Scarlet provides 4096 x 2160 pixel resolution for video and a very impressive 5120 x 2700 for still images. The RED Scarlet also comes with EF and PL mounts, although the PL version will be a bit more expensive than the EF. Other features of the camera include a 5K burst mode at 12fps, while also being able to capture 4K at 30fps – pretty impressive to say the least.
Red’s Scarlet-X is priced from $9,750 (£6,080) and will ship from 17 November.
