Toshiba has just launched its updated kid-friendly laptop: the Satellite L735D. Complete with features that help parents feel better about leaving kids to compute on their own, the laptop includes built-in parent-friendly apps like The Internet for Kids, Kidzui and LEGO Harry Potter:The Video Game. The L735D notebooks have features that help protect the notebooks from damage caused by children. Some of these features includes a wipeable keyboard to easily clean messes and smudges and a fingerprint-resistant, non-glossy “Neo X” finish. The the Satellite L735D is sporting an a 1.3GHz AMD E-series processor, two USB 2.0 ports, a webcam for video chat, and a battery life of five and a half hours, and just 320GB of storage space. The only other notable features are the 13.3-inch screen with 1300×708 resolution which supports video playback in 720p, webcam, and built-in DVD player.

Toshiba has just announced their new Android Honeycomb tablet offering, the Thrive 7″, the second Android Honeycomb tablet to come from Toshiba. Weighing in at .88lbs, the Thrive 7″ is less than half an inch thick, at .47in. and it is smaller than its predecessor, the Thrive 10″ Tablet. The slate also has the same Easy Grip textured rubber back panel as the original model. The Thrive 7” will feature an LED backlit display with 1280×800 resolution, a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor which should give it more than enough horsepower for surfing the web, watching movies or playing 3D games. It also features a microSD, microHDMI, and miniUSB ports, Wi-Fi , Bluetooth connectivity runs Android Honeycomb 3.2. The device will come in 16 GB and 32 GB models and it will also have GPS and Bluetooth.

ZTE, a Chinese handset maker, showcased its latest 7-inch T98 Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet powered by Nvidia’s Tegra3 chipset at the China International Exhibition Center expo in Beijing. Jen-Hsun Huang as CEO of Nvidia sounded that the upcoming of Tegra 3 was promising tablets will be equipped with the new SoC. The tablet has pass through the US FCC for official FCC labels. The new ZTE T98 is going to be ZTE’s first Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet and the companies next 7-inch tablet (the most recent release was the ZTE Light Pro tablet). The T98 comes with 4,000 mAh battery and about 11.5mm thick. According to photo evidence the NVIDIA Tegra 3 powered ZTE T98 scores a 1956 in Quadrant and the CPU is listed as a 1.3GHz quad-core ARMv7 processor in the devices system info.

Amazon sent out invitations last week for a press event this Wednesday, September 28th. According to TechCrunch, Amazon will indeed be announcing an Android tablet this Wednesday and it will be called the ‘Kindle Fire.’ The ‘Kindle Fire’ is intended to differentiate itself from the company’s e-ink e-book reader tablet, is rumored to run a heavily modified version of Android and will retail for $250. The ‘Kindle Fire is produced by the same contract manufacturer of the PlayBook, Quanta, however it is said to offer much better software and a much more complete ecosystem of services and content. The software is developed from a fork of Android and is integrated with Amazon’s own Appstore for Android. The ‘Kindle Fire’ will have a dual core Texas Instruments OMAP processor, a 7 inch color, backlit display, and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6810) has finally passed through the FCC. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was unveiled at IFA earlier this month, and abruptly removed from Samsung’s booth because of an Apple injunction. Seeing it pass through the FCC gives us a clear indication that it’s headed to the US but more details and a possible release date are still mystery. The Tab 7.7 will feature a 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display all on that 7.7″ form factor, along with a 1.4 GHz dual-core Samsung processor, 1GB of RAM, and offered in 16 and 32GB flavors and runs Android 2.3. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 won approval for its Bluetooth and dual-band Wireless-N capabilities, although FCC filings made no mention of 3G. It also brings a 3MP camera on the rear and 2MP up front.
