Getac Inc. has recently introduced its latest rugged convertible tablet notebook, namely the Getac V200. The V200 has a 12.1″ “super-bright” 12.1″ 1,200 nit multitouch-capable display. That touchscreen is resistive, which is a plus in this case as it allows for gloved-use. The laptop is based on Intel’s Calpella platform, features a magnesium alloy casing, and can withstand temperatures as low as -20C and ‘common’ shocks.
The Getac V200 is packs 2GB to 8GB DDR3 memory, 320GB hard drive or 80GB solid state drive (SSD). Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1, a slot for SD card, PCMCIA, fingerprint reader, and optional 3G modem and GPS. The machine has a weight of 2.7 kg and a will start shipping next month, backed by a five-year warranty. Sadly, its price has not been disclosed.
