Creative recently announced availability of the Sound Blaster Wireless Rock Speaker, the latest addition to the Sound Blaster Wireless family of products.
The new speakers are designed for use in the outdoors and boast of high quality speakers encased in granite-rock like exteriors. the Sound Blaster is designed with a certain degree of water protection, allowing you to leave it outside during rainy weather but the speaker isn’t completely water-proof, though.
The Sound Blaster Wireless Rock Speaker measures 12” x 11.2” x 13.8” (30.5cm x 28.5 cm x 35 cm), but don’t weight as a rock, just 6.3 kg. The sound come from 165 mm woofer, two tweeters(20 watts per channel), uses 2.4GHz wireless technology with range up to 100ft (30m)
The Wireless Rock is not a Bluetooth speaker but works with the $100 Sound Blaster Wireless USB audio system, which is available separately (bummer). Once you plug the USB accessory into your computer, you can then stream music wirelessly from iTunes, Pandora, or other music apps (the speaker must be within 100 feet). The outdoor speaker set now appears on Amazon for pre-order at $199.99.
