Tranquil rolls out the ixL i3 & i5 fanless compact PCs

Tranquil PC has just introduced a Media Centre-ready compact desktop that features a fanless cooling solution, called ixL Power PC.This mini-laptop isn’t much larger than an ASRock ION nettop. But instead of an Intel Atom processor, this little guy has a 2.93GHz Intel Core i3-530 CPU. Tranquil PC managed to pack all of their components together inside a 6 kilogram product whose chassis measures 240 (W) x 250 (D) x 110 (H) mm. Its TranCool4 cooling system is tasked with keeping the entire rig alive.

The specs: Intel i3-530 (2.93 GHz, dual core + HT), 2x DDR3 RAM slots, 1x 2.5″ SATA and 1x 3.5″ SATA storage bays, 1x optical drive bay, DVI, HDMI out and 3x eSATA ports. The feature set also includes a PCI Express x16 slot, for adding a low profile discrete graphics card, as well as the necessary connectivity and I/O options, such as Gigabit Ethernet. Definitely something to consider if you want performance though of course power consumption doesn’t compare to your standard Atom powered nettop. This one idles at just under 30W.

The Core i3-powered ixL Power PC has a Satin Black coating and costs as low as £389 , while the i5 model starts at £459 .
