The first notebooks with Nvidia Optimus technology – the ASUS N61JV-X2 and ASUS N71JV-X1 -are available now in the US. NVIDIA’s Optimus technology is a system that switches between a performance-grade NVIDIA chip and the Intel HD integrated GPU for power sipping, lower profile tasks.
The N61JV-X2 and N71JV-X1 is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GT325M with 1 GB of RAM and integrated Intel Graphics HD. Both have 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive and DVD Super Multi. The N61 packs a more powerful processor in the form of Intel’s 2.53GHz Core i5, whereas the N71 has a 2.26GHz Core i3. The Asus N61JV-X2 will feature a 16-inch display while the N71JV-X1 version sports a larger 17.3-inch display.
Moreover, the Asus N71JV-X1 and N61JV-X2 laptops comes with HDMI, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, eSATA port, and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n.
The 16-inch N61JV-X2 notebook can be found on Amazon, whereas the 17-inch ASUS N71JV-X1 is available for order on Newegg. Both devices carry the same price tag of $900.
