Active Media has launched a new range of external storage solutions that are USB 3.0 compatible, the Aviator 2 USB 3.0. The newest Active Aviator drive is targeted for business users who are interesting in using superfast USB 3.0 specification to transfer data. Measuring just over 3 x 5 inches, the 2.5-inch Aviator-2 is slim enough to slip into a jacket pocket.
SuperSpeed USB 3.0 supports transfer speeds up to 4.8Gbits/sec — ten times faster than USB 2.0. Aviator-2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external SSDs take advantage of USB 3.0′s massive bandwidth, delivering unprecedented performance in a mobile flash storage device. Three different models are available of which two contain SSD drives with the capacity of 64GB and 128GB respectively. The lower capacity 64GB model has read/write speeds of 230/160MBps while the larger 128GB model has 230 read and 120 write making it slightly slower than the smaller model. New AMP Aviator-2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external solid state drives are already available for order at price of $260 and $450 for the version of 64GB (N64G-A2) and 128GB (N128G-A2) respectively.
