ASUS have come up with an ultrathin design of their own, which seems to give the MacBook, a run for its price tag. According to the specs, the notebook’s chassis is completely made of aluminum, and provides space for a 13.3-inch TFT color, LED-backlit LCD display.
The UM30 from ASUS sports  a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 CPU, 3GB DDR2 RAM,  and runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It will also support SD, SDHC, MiniSD, and MMC cards. Its retail price is reported to be around 100,000 yen. It’s also pre-loaded with other software including Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009 (90-day trial), CyberLink Power2Go, Adobe Reader 9, and other Asus-based applications.Available from tomorrow (December 5) and only in Japan.
