The PogoPlug is one of the best plug and play NAS solutions available on the market, now the team at PogoPlug have announced some nice new improvements to their gadget. The core concept, however, remains the same: a sixty-second setup, basically amounting to plugging in at least one hard-drive, an ethernet connection and power, and registering the Pogoplug serial number to a free account online.The PogoPlug now comes with four USB ports, offers a global search for all drives attached to the PogoPlug.
Other new features include better transcoding and wider support for streaming movies on the Web or to an iPhone app. The new software also provides the ability to automatically sync photos, music, videos, and other content from apps such as iTunes and iPhoto. The interface supports drag-and-drop arrangement for slideshows, which are then shared via URL links. Clicking on the link immediately begins the slideshow within a browser.The company expect the second-gen Pogoplug to ship in time for the 2009 holidays, and are taking pre-orders now with an MRSP of $129; there are no ongoing service fees
