AMEX Digital introduces Mac Mini Blue-Ray upgrade kit

AMEX Digital today put out an internal Blu-ray drive upgrade kit for owners of current generation Mac minis. Apple makes a lot of fine products, but what they don’t do is offer true media PC solutions. One of the main reasons is that the company refuses to acknowledge the existence of Blu-ray. A new Mac mini Blu-ray Drive Upgrade Kit sells for $199.99, makes it possible to covert the Mini’s drive and lets you play DVD and Blue-Ray discs via your Mac Mini.

The drive supports the latest green ECO S.M.A.R.T which maximizes power efficiency and its SATA Drive has a 30% faster data transfer rate. Quiet Drive technology reduces the noise level of audio and video recording or playback while also delivering increased writing reliability.

The slot-load SATA drive gives the Mac the option of burning Blu-ray discs in apps that support it as well as reading Blu-ray media at up to 4X speeds; although Macs can’t yet play Blu-ray movies directly, AMEX suggests using VLC to load the raw video files.
