At FPS 2009, LG is showing off a transparent OLED panel that measures 15-inch. Samsung also displayed a smaller-sized version of a similar concept display at the event. The full 15-inch OLED panel ideal for notebooks, while the latter has a 2-inch OLED panel intended for cellphones. Designed for use in public spaces for advertisements, maps and interface applications, this new display dynamic would definitely revolutionize the advertising industry from an aesthetic perspective.
LG Display’s transparent display (front side) showing icons of Windows and a calculator application on the left side and an image of fireworks on the right side. The panel behind the display can be seen through the display. Each has a transparency of 30%. For the LG screen it is unknown what the resolution is, but the smaller Samsung screen can show 176 x 220 pixels. LG didn’t give any other information when it will actually ship.
