Sony have officially announced their VAIO X ultraportable, the super-slim 11.1-inch notebook. Not only is the 11-inch carbon fiber notebook super slim, but it’s actually affordable on the Sony scale of economy, starting at $1,300.
With a lightweight carbon-fibre chassis, the 11.1-inch X Series weighs in at 1.6 pounds – about 0.72kg – and is just over half an inch thick, although it loses both an optical drive and USB – both functionalities taken care of with an external option. Other features of the Sony VAIO X include 11.1-inch LED backlit screen, 2GB RAM, 128GB/64GB SSD, GPS, Verizon 3G, Bluetooth, Wifi, and motion-eye camera.
Running Windows 7, power-wise, the standard battery is good for 3.5 hours, while the super-extended capacity battery claims 14.
The question to discuss though is if the VAIO X is actually a notebook and not an expensive netbook as it runs on an Intel Atom Processor Z550 (2GHz)
The Sony VAIO Signature Collection X (VPCX115KX/N) is available besides in black also in a bling bling gold color
