Blue Microphones’ Eyeball USB webcam aims to provide “HD-quality” audio and video in a relatively small package. More than a video camera with a good microphone also incorporates a sensor to capture images. Recently, Blue Microphone has released the Eyeball 2.0, its upgrade to the original camera and microphone combo.
We saw the first version of the Eyeball was pretty damned decent (on par with the iSight built into the MacBook Pro, at the very least), rockin’ a 1.3 megapixel (1280 x 1024) camera that tucks into a spring-loaded drawer built into the big ol’ high quality microphone. The 2-megapixel upgrade is capable of broadcasting video at a maximum resolution of 1600×1200 at 30 frames per second and the optical sensor. Same like the previous one, it has a retractable lens which can be stored into the microphone unit and automatically turns off to help ensure privacy. Two choices for you with brushed aluminum or glossy black which can be purchased for $100.
